What Tommy Lloyd said after Arizona’s win over UCF
Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd spoke to the media after the Wildcats’ win over UCF, and here’s what he had to say:
“I thought our guys played a great game, we were able to come out on top and it was a total team effort,” Lloyd said. “We had a lot of guys contribute, and it was a big win for us.”
The Wildcats were able to pull off the win despite being down by as many as 10 points in the first half. Lloyd credited his team’s ability to adjust and make plays when it mattered most.
“We made some adjustments at halftime, and I thought our guys did a great job of executing those adjustments,” Lloyd said. “We were able to get some stops on defense, and then our offense started to click a little bit.”
One of the key players for the Wildcats was sophomore guard Bennedict Mathurin, who finished with a game-high 23 points. Lloyd praised Mathurin’s performance, saying he was “unbelievable” and “made some huge plays” for the team.
| Player | Points | Rebounds | Assists |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bennedict Mathurin | 23 | 5 | 3 |
| Kerr Kriisa | 18 | 4 | 6 |
| Azuolas Tubelis | 15 | 7 | 2 |
The Wildcats will look to build on this momentum as they head into their next game. Lloyd said the team is feeling confident, but knows they still have a lot of work to do.
“We’re feeling good right now, but we know we can’t get too high or too low,” Lloyd said. “We’ve got to stay focused and keep working, because we’ve got a lot of tough games ahead of us.”
